When I think of the how the year has gone so far it makes me ask some more questions, did the credit crunch from last year affect me? what did I do differently? Is the credit crunch now coming to an end?

I was a bit hesitant at first to publish this video cos I was a bit embarrassed and thinking is it good enough? …anyway here is a little advert we did at uni on the whole credit crunch hype so feast yourselves guys…;-)

In the area of Television it is no longer uncommon or seen as a luxury to want a TV with High Definition picture even though the old school analogue tv picture has hardly any flaws in term of what we can see with our naked eyes. Even just before the popularity of HD picture we began to throw away the old tv/pc box with the bulging back and we are now going for flat screens which are now even getting flatter with increase advancements in technology.

One thing that strikes me is that not only is tv getting thinner but at the same time the picture quality and frames per second are getting bigger. We are tending towards larger screens for our living rooms which in a way replicates the cinema screens.

Looking at the advancement on a more broader scale it can also go unnoticed that computer in itself has also changed the way we view tv in that Televisions are now becoming designed with built-in computer in them to cater for the fact that we now want to stream TV broadcast over the net via pages such as YouTube etc. We already now have the capability to pause and rewind live tv and also store in on a hard drive to watch later if we want.

Basically we no longer want to be told when to watch tv by the broadcasters and the internet has crush the whole idea of scheduling which the broadcast used as a tool before to control our lives. The consumers are now beginning more than ever to take control as to what is shown in there individual private rooms.

My technical analysis:

Currently in britain, the internet speeds have not caught up with countries like Japan where internet speeds are now on about 30Mbits/s and the reason being most, if not nearly all the entire network we have is still on copper wire which is the old school telephone connection adopted years ago. The average speed we have here is about 4Mbits/s which is not at all-sufficient to handle the delivery of HD TV broadcast over the internet. To combat this most of our entire network would need to be replaced with fibre optics to handle the HD picture we are all longing for.

Now I want to ask a question which I would like your opinions on, is the future of TV the internet?
